The Alma Parris Memorial Secondary School was officially opened on 25 September 1995.

It was named after Helen Alma Parris who worked for many years as a teacher and social worker in the northern parishes.

The school provides an alternative secondary education for students who score less than 30% in the Common Entrance Examination.

The school is located on the site of the former Speightstown Girls’ School and it also occupies part of the site of the former Transport Board bus terminal.

The school celebrated its twelfth anniversary in 2007.
